Have you ever craweled out of bed and suddenly realized that the term “Woke up on the wrong side of the bed” totally applies to the way you are feeling?  I woke up this morning to wet, sloppy snow falling and not in a particularly good mood.  Maybe it was the winter blues, maybe it was the giant stack of files sitting on my desk. Whatever it was had me in a slump.

I was sore from taking Body Pump the night before and could have slept another 3 hours. I have been slowing increasing my weight in pump and was definitely feeling it this morning in my shoulders.  Not wanting to go to work I dragged myself out of bed and into the shower. The shower really helped loosen up my sore muscles.

I immediately knew what would get me out of my funk. Exercise!!! Not eating a piece of chocolate cake, although that does sometimes help , but getting to the gym and listening to music and not thinking about anything. This got me in the mood to creat a new playlist before I left.

I’m sure these pop princesses could brighten my day!!

I hit the treadmill for a super sweaty cardio workout.

After returning from the gym in a much better mood (see I told ya!) I made a yummy salmon burgers  recipe that I got from PBFingers. I left off the bun and had a sweet potato and roasted Brussel sprouts as sides.

Microwave Sweet Potato (Nature’s Candy)

Wash and puncture sweet potato a few times with a fork.

Wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for 4-5 minutes. Turn potato over half way through microwaving.

10-13 Fresh Brussel sprouts, trimmed and cut lengthwise

Toss brussel sprouts with oil, salt and pepper and transfer to pan. Add your garlic and saute sprouts until brown and tender on the inside.

You may also cook in the oven on 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until sprouts are browned.

I treated myself to a little dessert afterwards.

I really hope you take my advise and decide to hit the gym the next time you are feeling down!! You won’t regret it.
